It's 10pm, very nearly, and 102 degrees outside. Earlier today, it was 115. There was nothing to be done about it but to float and think. On the positive side, good ideas can be found just this way.
We had 100 degree weather today. For NW Oregon, that's a scorcher. I started my day helping to load up all the wood from tearing off our 16 x 30' deck. We were gulping water like fiends, it was probably not too smart. Tomorrow will be another triple digit day. Here's to hoping the heatwave will break soon for all of us.
My folks are visiting, today my mom helped me finalized my color palette for painting the top floor of my house. Tomorrow we're going to take a close look at the (awfulterribletextured) ceilings and decide if i can get by without painting them, LOL. Already i'll be doing the first part of the priming myself this weekend, EEEEEEEEEK!
Drinne, what i have is called a "popcorn" ceiling, pretty retro i think (my folks have it in their family room in their 1970 house, LOL). It's like little stalactites dripping from the ceiling, and it's on EVERY ceiling in the upper level.
If i can get by without painting the ceilings, it would save me a lot of time. There's a lot of cleaning to do, and i have to completely empty my office room of everything i left behind last summer when i moved out.
But painting the samples on the wall was very encouraging and the vision of what it will look like when it's all done is good motivation to get through the cleaning and priming steps :-)
I hide rewards for myself in notebooks to spur me on to finishing them. Today, I turned the page and it said POPPET in big letters. So my day is a very very good day. :D
Lisa, in reference to "Lavender Blue" - i think i've found a shade of paint that functions almost that exact way. It's the Home Depot brand Behr's, called Lazy Sunday, and looks lavender, especially in yellowish incandescent light. i painted a sample on the wall of my office the other night. The next day i came back to look at it in daylight and it was MUCH more blue, more violet than purple.
i hope to take photos once it's painted but there's been a huge obstacle, sometime during the past year that room sustained some water damage and there is black mold peeking out in the corner of the ceiling and walls. ARGH! i'm trying to get someone to look at that this week. It's always something isn't it...
Beautiful art. It's been between 88- 102 here in Utah. So glad we finally got the AC working again. I really miss Palm Springs sometimes, but when it gets up to 120 out there- that I don't miss much.

rayvn, have you though about one of the new tin or tin style ceiling tiles to cover your textured ceiling? Unless that's what you already have?
