Dreaming Winter

People shoveling snow right now would at best think I'm insane right now---I'd likely tell them to get in line---and at worst would want to punch me for my winter longings.

I've got mostly blue skies and palm trees here, day in, day out. Whaaah. Right, hate me if you wish, but it's all relative. Too much of a good thing is, well, too much. Human beings need seasons and change for renewal. It's that simple.

But today is cloudy, and I can sit outside with hot chocolate and blankets and pretend winter. So I'll appreciate that. Poppet tells me winter dreams are usually better than the real thing. And I've spent enough time trudging in snow to know that when my feet are numb, the romance becomes reality.

I am a very silly human, hiding in my own head.
Thank you Poppet, for pointing that out, once again.
I'm working a lot and will be adding new photos throughout the day, as we get them done. Hope you like them. And, if you are dealing with winter, don't forget to warm your feet and drink warm things. And if it would make you feel better, I'll put up photos of palm trees.

Child of Winter is very beautiful. It is foggy today, we've had sunshine and cold off and on, and rain earlier in the day. Rarely snow though, and when it snows, it's usually that wet, slushy stuff that you can't really "play" with. (Although you can make rock-hard iceballs that will knock someone out if you throw them.)

A couple of months ago I was at the zoo, and they had put a couple of tons of ice cubes in with the polar bears. They were rolling around in them, sliding and shoving, and generally having fun. If only it were that easy, I'd put a snow machine out on the back deck. ;-)

Funny you should write this particular entry today. We had our first snow yesterday afternoon, and it was just enough to make driving treacherous. Jordan and her friends sat on the interstate between the Mall and home for 3 hours until the salt & cinder trucks could get things opened up enough to crawl off the exit ramp and home.

She came in the door muttering about wishing she was back out in Palm Springs! Go figure...

The little snowy poppet indicates that you carry the wintery magic inside you no matter what the weather. She's very special.

She reminds me of Narnia - like if the White Witch had a child that she just couldn't understand . . .

And now that I see her full length she reminds me of Russian Fairytales where everything is layered and beautiful, even the peasant magic and the evil.

No snow here, it's just grey and chilly and meh. I would be happy to see pictures of palm trees, or of sparkling winter wonderlands. One or the other!
